Here are some answers to questions that are commonly asked about our service .
1. Which bin is best for me?
This depends on what type of rubbish you have.
For the type of rubbish below - please use a 1/2/3 or 4m³ Side-Load bin:
General Waste, Household Rubbish, Garden Rubbish, Not suitable for concrete, Up to 750kg capacity.
For the type of rubbish below - please use a 4m³ Hi- Side or a 8,10 or 12m³ Skip Bin:
General Waste, Household Rubbish, Garden Rubbish, Builders Rubbish **,Up to 6 tonne capacity.
For dirt and rubble material - use a 2.5m³ or 4m³ Lo-Side Skip.
For extra large loads of rubbish please use a HUKA bin:
Commercial Rubbish, Building Sites, General Rubbish, Very Large Loads, Up to 15 Tonne Capacity.

2.What is general waste?
General waste is typically anything that is neither liquid nor of a hazardous nature; for example
packaging, vegetation/green waste, dirt/rubble, waste wood, "general cleanup around the section materials".

3.What do I do with hazardous chemicals?
We can take care of your hazardous chemicals for you, types of hazardous chemicals would be.
Solvents, Paints, Acids, Laboratory Waste, Oils etc. We have a specialised service whereby we can identify, package, transport & dispose of these materials. A destruction certificate is provided if required.

4.What can I recycle?
We accept any of these recyclable goods at the two transfer stations:
Green waste, Steel, Wood, White ware, Batteries, LPG Bottles, Glass.

5.What is liquid waste?
Anything that is in liquid form for example:
Septic tank waste, Hydrocarbon interceptors, Paints, Solvents, Industrial waste water, Grease traps.

6.What is a transfer station?
A facility where the public can drop off general waste and recyclables seven days a week.
This waste then gets processed and taken to the landfill.

7.What is green waste?
Green waste is basically everything that grows in your garden other than flaxes or cabbage trees (as these jam up the shredding machine).

8.Does
Cairns Bins have bins for permanent hire?
All bins at cairns bins are available for permanent hire, these can be emptied on a regular basis or on call basis.

Cairns Bins make bins to suit?
We have our own engineering shop facility and have been manufacturing our
own waste equipment for the last twenty five years. We can make bins to suit any business.

10.When
and how do I pay for the bin/skip?
Bins and skips must be paid for prior to delivery. You can do this by leaving a cheque in your letterbox, by bringing payment in to the office (cash/cheque/credit card) - or by supplying your credit card details over the phone.

What happens if a Side-Load bin is over weight?
Side-Load bins will take up to approximately 750kg. If you put any more than this in the bin - some will have to be off-loaded as the truck will be unable to lift it. If in doubt - ring the office.
12.
What about if a Skip is overweight?
Same thing - it will have to be unloaded. Skips have a much greater capacity though - the trucks will lift approximately 6 tonne. NOTE: the price that you will have been quoted includes the first tonne of rubbish - anything over 1 tonne will be charged for by the Kg at the rate quoted. If unsure - ring the office.
